For MaDE2020 Presenters:


ORAL (12 minutes total: 8-10 minute talk + 2-4 minute Q&A)

MaDE2020 oral presentations are 12 minutes long, including 8-10 minutes talk time and 2-4 minutes for questions. There is an additional 3 minutes allocated per presentation for introductions and speaker change-over.

Session co-chairs will keep strictly to time. Presentations running over time will be cut short.

All rooms have PC computers and up-to-date Microscoft Office, and data projectors. Presentations should be set to 16:9 screen ratio and must use PowerPoint (ppt, pptx) or Adobe Acrobat (pdf) files. There will be no facility or time to allow individual speakers to hook-up their own laptops, including Apple Macintosh users. Speakers are responsible for ensuring that their presentations display correctly, including any movies or embedded files.

Presentations can be tested in the venues (Great Room 2, Great Room 3, Great Room 4) during Tea and Lunch Breaks.

Morning presenters, please bring your presentation on a USB flash drive to your presentation room 15 minutes before the start of the session. Afternoon presenters should upload their presentations either in the morning or 15 minutes prior to the end of lunch in their session room.

There will be a single People’s Choice Award for the BEST Oral Presentation ($500 cash) – co-sponsored by GNS Science and PDMA-NZ.

All prizes will be announced during the MaDE2020 Closing Ceremony on Tuesday 8 December.


POSTER (A0 portrait display)

Posters will be on display throughout MaDE2020, should be in the allocated space in the exhibition area before 8.45am on Monday 7 December 2020 and must be removed by 4pm on Tuesday 8 December 2020.

Posters must be printed by the author and should be in A0 size portrait display. Velcro dots will be available at the registration desk.

There will be a FIRST ($500 cash), SECOND ($300 cash) and THIRD ($200 cash) Poster Prizes – all sponsored by GNS Science.

All prizes will be announced during the MaDE2020 Closing Ceremony on Tuesday 8 December.


STUDENT INNOVATION SHOWCASE – HAPPY HOUR (5.30 – 7pm, Monday 7 December)

Set-up is strictly between 5.00-5.30pm on Monday 7 December in the designated area and pack-down is strictly between 7.00-7.30pm on 7 December, immediately after the session.

Demonstrations/samples/exhibits must be small enough for students to bring with them to MaDE2020. They should be self-contained and should take no longer than 30 minutes to set up. Ideally they would just need to be placed on a table.

Storage space for demonstrators at the conference venue is limited. Should you require storage space before/after the Happy Hour on Monday 7 December please email as soon as possible.

There will be a single BEST Student Innovation Showcase Prize ($500 cash plus 3D print credits to the value of $500) and three Highly Commended Prizes (each $150 cash plus 3D print credits to the value of $150). There will also be a lucky draw Student Innovation Showcase Spot Prize for a delegate who voted during this session.

All prizes will be announced during the MaDE2020 Closing Ceremony on Tuesday 8 December.


ON 25 - 26 JANUARY 2022

In response to the New Zealand government’s recent announcement that all of New Zealand will move to traffic light Red at 11.59pm 23 January 2022, the MaDE Conference Executive have met and confirmed that the MaDE2022 Conference will not go ahead as scheduled on Tuesday 25 - Wednesday 26 January 2022.
